"In the Scunthorpe Star the game was reported for having a false call made to abandon the game. On Saturday evening Kirton Lindsey received a call to say Belton could not field a side and would be forfit the game. Kirton Decided to play a 6 a side game on the Sunday and at 3pm Belton turned up to play the game, unaware of anyone making the call to forfit the game. Kirton decided to play the match and reported the incident to the league. Paul Harrison, League chairman, investigated and found that someone has managed to get a set of fixtures for the season and is prank calling teams. The whole affair was reported in the Scunthorpe Star on the 29th May 1981."
