The Nelson captain objected to Haughton umpiring after he called two successive no-balls from Burns for throwing and the Wellington captain put Salmon in his place and withdrew Haughton.
IJ Salmon had injured himself on the boat coming over and Hickson was allowed to run for him. In the second innings Blacklock was his runner.
