The match degenerated into a very unpleasant affair. At the fall of the fourth wicket Davy, the Manhattan captain came in and after making a single was given run out by the Staten Island umpire. That the decision was suspect was obvious to all and elicited a great deal of dissatisfaction from the home supporters. RO Davy would not accept the verdict in good faith and immediately retired from the match.
