Both teams agreed to switch the match from Guyana and play in the Leeward Islands after rain had washed out Guyana's previous home match against the Windward Islands. The West Indies Cricket Board did not approve the change, and play would have been possible in Guyana after all but the match was cancelled when the Leeward Islands found it impossible to reassemble their team and reschedule airline bookings.
