Although Middlesex was drawn at home, Lord's was not available, and so the venues were reversed and the match fell foul of the weather. The rules stated that the winner should be the team with the higher percentage of wins in the zonal matches, then the higher percentage of away wins. Both teams had won three matches but Warwickshire had won more away matches than Middlesex, and so qualified for the final.
