On the journey back to Philadelphia the ship hit rocks off Minors Ledge Lighthouse, and limped slowly back to Boston. On arrival the ship was listing badly and all luggage was lost. The captain came under severe censure for not only attempting to get back to port, but ignoring all offers of help for the waiting tugs.
