After numerous interruptions for rain followed by a heavy downpour when Northern were 20/0, the umpires were unable to agree as to whether the pitch was still playable. Northern insisted on finishing the match, and the Sefton captain, G Miller, responded by taking off his regular bowlers, after which the home side won without difficulty.
