JW D'Arcy and ME Chapple added 96 in 90 minutes for the fourth wicket in the Canterbury XI first innings
PA Small was unable to take the field on the second day due to a leg injury so the 12th man, AF Rapley, was permitted to bowl
NQ Wright was struck a severe blow on the left side of his head when he ducked in to a delivery from RC Motz which meant he had to retire hurt and he underwent an operation in hospital that evening
