In the Marlborough first innings NF Maclaine was caught by Smith but it is not known which Smith took the catch
NF Maclaine fractured his left thumb attempting to take a return catch from BD Smith during the Wellington XI second innings and although he successfully caught BD Smith later in the same over, he left the field at the end of the over and took no further part in the match
