Notes
--> Christchurch Suburban Association full substitute: J Monk for RJ Kerr (from the second day)
--> Day 1 Lunch: Southland (1) 97/6 (Hill ?*, Wilson ?*)
Rain halted play three times on the first day: the first stoppage was an hour and five minutes after lunch with play not resuming until 4.20pm; after only 32 minutes play stopped again for 18 minutes; a further 30 minutes was played before the final stoppage at 5.40pm with the umpires carrying out an inspection at 6pm and deciding it was not fit to resume play
RJ Kerr had to return to Christchurch on the second day and was replaced by the Manager, John Monk, who had been undertaking the 12th man duties
The newspaper report had Kerr bowling 1 over and taking a wicket in the Southland second innings but as he had returned to Christchurch it is presumed that it should have been Monk
