This card comes from the Minor Counties Research Project
Requiring 126 runs in their second innings to win in two and an half-hours, Oxfordshire achieved their victory by the narrow margin of one wicket. When their last man, Gray, went in to bat, 10 runs were still needed for victory. Helped by two overthrows, these were obtained, the winning hit being a boundary 4 by Moulder. For the winners, A Rogers took 10 wickets in the match for 116 runs, and P Rogers 9 for 103. There were 8 fours in Forbes's 50. For the home team, A M Miller took 10 wickets in the match for 111 runs. Beaven's 54 contained 1 four. In the Wiltshire second innings, Morres and Beaven put on 51 runs for the seventh wicket. The 4 catches held by Justice in the Wiltshire second innings and the 6 held in a match were both new records for fielders in the competition and 'mosts' for the season. Similarly, the 4 catches held by Arnold in the home team's second innings was a record for a wicket-keeper in the competition and the most in an innings during the season.
