Rain stopped play several times throughout the match
This match counted for Northamptonshire in Championship - but not Durham who did not qualify (individual records count)
This weather-affected return match ended as a draw. When these two sides had met at Northampton in May, Northamptonshire had won by an innings. On the first day rain interrupted play in the morning and halted the game at 5.40 pm. For the visitors, there were 9 fours and 7 fours respectively in Colson's two innings of 78 and 85. In the Northamptonshire first innings Briggs and Colson put on 101 runs for the first wicket. For Durham, Simpson's 70 included 11 fours. With W F Whitwell, he added 66 runs for the seventh wicket.
