This rain-affected return game was drawn. Buckinghamshire had begun the match needing a victory if they were to win the Championship outright. For the second time in succession the weather denied them the opportunity to win. The previous encounter between the two teams earlier in the month had seen Hertfordshire win narrowly by 1 wicket. On the first day play began shortly after one o'clock, but a thunderstorm prevented any play after 1.25 pm. Buckinghamshire declared 91 runs ahead to try to force a win. Hertfordshire batted out 45 overs for the loss of three wickets.
