This return match was drawn, Buckinghamshire having won the game between the two sides at Aylesbury in July. Playing to save the match, Northamptonshire's second innings of 159 was scored off 143.2 overs. Thompson batted nearly three hours for his 77, which included 6 fours. Gresson carried his bat through the Buckinghamshire innings. It was the only instance during the season. His score of 111 not out included 1 five, 9 fours, 5 threes and 15 twos, and he was at the wicket for 3 hours and 40 minutes. He added 51 runs with Nash for the seventh wicket. In the home team's first innings, Nash took 7 wickets for 65 runs. Wright's 59 overs in an innings and 98 in a match, and 38 maidens in an innings and 56 in a match were all highs of the season and new records for the competition. The 77.3 overs bowled by Nash in the match were the second highest number during the season.
