Buckinghamshire won this return match by four wickets with ten minutes to spare at 6.20 pm on the second day. They thus completed the double over Berkshire, having also won the game at Reading a week before. On the first day, the start of the Buckinghamshire innings was delayed by rain for about three-quarters of an hour. For the winners, Wright took 10 wickets in the match for 89 runs. The 73.2 overs he bowled were the second highest in a match during the season, as were the 25 maidens in the first innings and the 39 maidens in the match. De Paravicini's 84 not out included 12 fours and Saunders's 62 contained 4 fours. There were 9 fours in Croome's 63 for Berkshire. An injured finger prevented Wheble from batting in the Berkshire second innings.
