Durham won this low-scoring return match at 1.00 pm on the second day to complete the double over Cambridgeshire. The match at West Hartlepool in July had also been won by an innings. Rain briefly interrupted play on the first day. No batsman scored fifty, but the debutant Marsden top-scored with 42, including 4 fours. For the winners, Marsden and Gregory added 86 runs for the eighth wicket, which was the highest partnership for that wicket during the season. J C Hobbs, the Cambridgeshire umpire in this match was the father of J B Hobbs.
