Oxfordshire won this return match at 5.50 pm on the second day after being set a victory target of 128 runs in 2½ hours. The match between the two teams at Thame at the beginning of the month had been drawn. For the winners, A Rogers took 12 wickets in the match for 142 runs. There were 9 fours in Polley's 68 not out. In the Oxfordshire first innings, Polley and Headlam added 87 runs for the tenth wicket, which equalled the Championship record established at the end of July by R Steeples and P C Phillips for Monmouthshire against Wiltshire at Newport. For the home team, Maul top-scored with 50.
Buckinghamshire were handicapped because Nash became ill, affected by the heat, and did not bat in his team's second innings, or bowl at all. After luncheon on the first day, with the Buckinghamshire score 71-3 wickets, a new pitch was used as the current one was thought too dangerous to continue. C C Bradford, the Oxfordshire captain, declined a suggestion from de Paravicini that the match start again from scratch. Newspaper reports suggest the new wicket played little better than the old one.
[Missing: In Buckinghamshire 1st inns boundaries in Maul's 50; in Buckinghamshire 2nd inns who bowled 2 no balls.]
