Glamorgan won this match, which marked the Surrey 2nd XI debut in the Championship, at 5.58 pm on the second day. Set 291 to win in 3 hours, the last Surrey 2nd XI wicket fell with just two minutes remaining before stumps were due to be drawn. W J Baker and Dolbey had put on 84 runs for the last wicket, the equal highest partnership for that wicket during the year, and had looked like denying a victory to the visitors. For the winners, S Lowe took 10 wickets in the match for 167 runs. The 167 runs conceded were the second highest by a bowler in a match during the season. There was 1 five, 19 fours, 1 three and 7 twos in Morgan's 110, scored in 87 minutes. W H Brain's 99 not out, scored in 200 minutes, included 1 five and 12 fours, and Letcher's 56 contained 1 five and 9 fours. In the Glamorgan first innings, Letcher and W H Brain added 103 runs for the fourth wicket and W H Brain and Creber 69 for the eighth. In the Glamorgan second innings, Morgan and Letcher put on 110 runs for the second wicket. For the losers, Stoner and A Baker both scored 54, Baker with 1 five and 8 fours. In the visitors' second innings, Letcher hurt his foot while batting and Bancroft acted as his runner. The match aggregate of 899 runs was the highest of the season.
