Wiltshire won this match by 90 runs at 6.20 pm on the second day, after making two declarations. Overnight rain delayed the start on the first day until noon. After an hour and 20 minutes play, a series of thunderstorms prevented a restart and the game was abandoned for the day at 4.00 pm. A new pitch was cut for play on the second day on which Wiltshire continued their innings. It is reported that when it came to Dorset to bat, play reverted to the old pitch. Set 136 to win in an hour and 45 minutes, Dorset were dismissed for 45. For the winners, Overton took 10 wickets in the match, including 8 for 25 in the Dorset second innings. There were ? fours in Stevens's 68. Three batsmen were run out in the Dorset first innings.
