This card comes from the Minor Counties Research Project - research is continuing on this scorecard which can be expected to change.
This return match, which was played for Nash's benefit, was drawn with rain preventing any play on the second day. The game between the two sides at St Albans in July had also been drawn. 34 wickets fell on the first day, and Buckinghamshire needed 122 runs in their second innings to win and had already lost 4 batsmen for 21 runs. Buckinghamshire's first innings total of 20 was the lowest total yet for a completed innings in the Championship, being lower than the 22 runs scored by Bedfordshire v Oxfordshire at Oxford in 1901. For the home team, Wright took 10 wickets in the match for 51 runs. Cobb became ill on the first day and in the Hertfordshire second innings Hobbs kept wicket and Kentish fielded as substitute and caught C T Rudd. During the match three batsmen were dismissed without scoring in either innings and in the home side's first innings six batsmen were dismissed without scoring. [The bowling analyses for White and Harding in the Buckinghamshire second innings have not been found in any of the sources listed and have been derived from the averages in Wisden, which also includes two friendly matches against the MCC.]
[Missing: Part fall of wickets; in Buckinghamshire second innings bowling to check derived analyses listed.]
