This card comes from the Minor Counties Research Project - research is continuing on this scorecard which can be expected to change.
Northamptonshire won by 47 runs just after 6.23 pm on the second day with 7 minutes to spare, thus completing the 'double' over Surrey 2nd XI, having also won when the sides met at Northampton earlier in the month.
Surrey 2nd XI had led by 71 runs on first innings, and required 127 runs in 115 minutes for victory.
The win sealed the Championship for Northamptonshire, but it is reported that their players had little time to celebrate, as they had to rush off to Paddington Station to catch the 7.30 pm train to Trowbridge, which they reached shortly before 11.00 pm.
For the winners, East took 11 wickets in the match for 114 runs, and there were 3 fours in Horton's 63, scored in 2 hours and ten minutes.
In the visitors' second innings Horton and Wetherall put on 84 runs for the ninth wicket.
For the losers, W C Smith took 10 wickets in the match for 104 runs, including 7 for 59 in the Northamptonshire first innings.
Moulder's 64 contained 1 six and 4 fours.
