Devon won this return match by 9 wickets on the second day after enforcing the follow-on. When the two sides met at Exeter in July, Devon had also won the match. For the winners, Aston took 13 wickets in the match for 168 runs, including 7 for 78 in the Berkshire second innings. There were 10 fours in Gwynn's 80 and 12 fours in Harrison's identical score.
