Hertfordshire won this match by nine wickets at 2.55 pm on the second day. Hertfordshire had been set a victory target of 121 runs in over four hours. For the winners, White took 10 wickets in the match for 83 runs, including 7 for 51 in the Suffolk first innings. Butcher scored 55 not out and Titchmarsh 54 not out. For Suffolk, Quaife scored 51. The Hertfordshire first innings total was originally stated as being 142, but overnight a mistake was found which had credited Butcher with 2 runs too many and his score was reduced from 51 to 49 and the Hertfordshire total was reduced to 140. In the Suffolk second innings, Trudgett had to retire overnight because he was called away as a result of his wife's illness. In the Hertfordshire second innings Butcher and Titchmarsh shared an unbroken partnership of 111.
