This card comes from the Minor Counties Research Project - research is continuing on this scorecard which can be expected to change.
This rain-interrupted return match was drawn with Bedfordshire winning on first innings. Hertfordshire had won the match between the two teams at St Albans in July. For the home team, Peel scored 57. In the Hertfordshire second innings, Peel had the unusual bowling analysis of 10 overs and 9 maidens conceding just 2 runs and taking 1 wicket. The Bedfordshire declaration left Hertfordshire with an hour to bat. On the first day after 4 overs had been bowled, a thunderstorm stopped play which was not resumed until 3.30 pm. On the second day rain prevented play until 3.30 pm. In the Hertfordshire second innings, W Brown acted as the substitute for Thring and caught Golding.in the visitors' second innings.
