Staffordshire won by 176 runs at 4.30 pm on the second day. The Staffordshire declaration left Nottinghamshire 2nd XI 3 hours and 5 minutes to score the 211 runs required to win. On the first day, rain delayed play for 1 ½ hours after lunch and bad light stopped play 15 minutes early. A drying sun and wind made the wicket very difficult for batsmen on the afternoon of the second day. For the winners, S F Barnes took 13 wickets in the match for 48 runs, including 8 for 34 in the Nottinghamshire first innings. Bourne's two innings of 57 and 81 each contained 5 fours. Cursham top-scored for Nottinghamshire with 30, and J W Barnes took 9 wickets in the match for 108 runs. 3000 spectators were estimated to have been present on the first day.
