Yorkshire 2nd XI won this return match by nine wickets at 5.45 pm on the second day, after enforcing the follow-on. The match between the two sides at Jesmond in June had also been won by Yorkshire 2nd XI. Rain interruptions on the first day limited play to fours hours, and play was ended an hour early at 5.30 pm. For the winners, there were 17 fours in Booth's 98. In the Yorkshire first innings Booth and Watson added 91 runs for the eighth wicket. Anderson top-scored for Northumberland with 37.
