Hertfordshire won this return match by an innings and 50 runs on the second day. The match between the two sides at Bedford in June had been drawn. Rain delayed the start on the first day until 3.30 pm. For the winners White and Coleman bowled unchanged through both Bedfordshire innings. White took 17 wickets in the match for 73 runs, with 8 for 35 in the first innings and 9 for 39 in the second. It was statistically the best match bowling performance of the season, and his 9 wickets for 38 runs was the second best innings bowling achievement. Coleman
took 3 wickets for 46 runs. R B Cowley scored 50. In the Hertfordshire innings, R B Cowley and Coleman added 75 runs for the seventh wicket.
