The match was for Coleman's benefit. Lincolnshire won by eight wickets soon after 5.00 pm on the second day. For the winners, there were 2 sixes and 10 fours in Ward's 113 not out, an innings of 115 minutes. For Hertfordshire, White carried his bat through the Hertfordshire first innings for 32 not out in 2½ hours. In the Hertfordshire second innings Wright and Harford added 50 runs for the ninth wicket. In the Hertfordshire first innings when five wickets were down, Allen was hit on the head by a fast ball bowled by Riley and took no further part in the match. Foster took over the wicket-keeping duties. White was suffering from a slight strain which it was reported adversely affected his bowling.
