Wiltshire won at 12.05 pm on the third day. It was the second time that they had become Champions. For the winners, there were 9 fours in C S Awdry's 76 and 6 fours in Taunton's 64. In the Wiltshire second innings C S Awdry and Stevens put on 131 runs for the second wicket, and Taunton and Miller 90 for the seventh. In the Wiltshire first innings Nicholson carried his bat for 40 runs, an innings of 1 hour and 50 minutes. It was the first instance in a Championship Final or Challenge Match. Mitchell and Smith shared the wickets for Wiltshire in the first innings and Miller and Newman in the second. For Glamorgan, Maxwell took 7 wickets for 43 runs in the first innings and Hacker 7 for 98 in the second. Symonds top-scored with 39 that included 3 fours. In the Wiltshire second innings Glamorgan conceded 40 extras, with Riches constrained by a bruised hand. Creber had a strained side that limited his bowling in the Wiltshire first innings.
