Durham won by nine wickets at 4.30 pm on the second day, after enforcing the follow-on. A shower briefly held up play shortly after luncheon on the first day. For the winners, Bradford scored 168, including 18 fours, 6 threes and 15 twos, an innings of three and a half hours. He is reported as having been dropped by the Cheshire wicket-keeper before he had scored. C Brooks's 93 contained 11 fours. In the Durham first innings, Bradford and C Brooks put on 250 runs for the fourth wicket. For Cheshire, there were 2 fours in Hunter's 50.
