Yorkshire 2nd XI won this return match by an innings and 15 runs at 2.40 pm on the second day. The match between the two sides at South Shields in June had also been won by Yorkshire 2nd XI. For the winners, Broadbent took 13 wickets in the match for 123 runs, including 7 for 28 in the Durham first innings. There was 1 six, 13 fours, 1 three and 5 twos in Hardisty's 100, scored in 2½ hours. Hartington's 79 contained 1 six and 10 fours. In the Yorkshire innings, Hardisty and Hartington put on 132 runs for the ninth wicket. For the losers, Morris took all ten wickets in the Yorkshire innings for 130 runs. It was the only instance during the season.
