Devon won by six wickets at 6.28 pm on the second day amid reported scenes of great enthusiasm with just two minutes to spare. Devon required 65 runs to win in their second innings with an hour to get them in. On the first day, rain between the change of innings delayed play for 1½ hours. For the winners, there were 2 sixes and 7 fours in Watts's 80, 4 fours in Orchard's 69 and 1 six and 6 fours in Shellely's 65. In the Devon first innings, Orchard and Watts put on 114 for the second wicket. For the losers, W N Bickford-Smith's 96 contained 1 five, 12 fours, 2 threes and 8 twos., and was scored in a little over two hours.
