Berkshire won this return match by an innings and 24 runs shortly before 3.00 pm on the second day. The match between the two sides at St Albans in July had been won by Hertfordshire. For the winners, Collins scored 96 and Bennett 78. Hawksworth took 11 wickets in the match for 113 runs, including 7 for 77 in the Hertfordshire second innings. For Hertfordshire, Titchmarsh top-scored with 43. Coleman took 8 wickets for 106 runs in the Berkshire innings. The attendance on the first day was estimated to be one of the largest ever recorded.
