This return match was drawn with Surrey 2nd XI winning on first innings. The match between the two sides at Bishop's Stortford in June had been won by Surrey 2nd XI. Drizzle on the first day limited play to four hours and rain shortly after 5.00 pm on the second caused the match to be abandoned. For the home side, there were 1 five and 12 fours in Goatly's 99. Spring's 63 was scored in under 30 minutes and contained 13 fours and Rutty scored 54. In the Surrey first innings, Knight and Goatly put on 148 runs for the first wicket, and Rutty and Vigar 54 for the eighth wicket. For the visitors, there were 1 five, 17 fours and 7 threes in Cowley's 147. Titchmarsh scored 76.
[Missing: Fall of wickets; in Surrey first innings duration of Goatly's 99, boundaries in Rutty's 54; in Hertfordshire innings, duration of Cowley's 147, boundaries in Titchmarsh's 76.]
