Berkshire won this return match by ten wickets on the second day. It was their ninth consecutive win. The match between the two sides at Reading the previous week had also been won by Berkshire. Wiltshire were dismissed before lunch on the first day. Play ended half an hour early on the first day because of bad light, and the start on the second day was delayed for an hour and a half by rain. For the winners, Belcher took 13 wickets in the match for 130 runs, including 7 for 54 in the Wiltshire first innings. For the losers, W R C Laverton scored 66. The four catches held by Nepean in the Wiltshire first innings were the joint highest of the season for a fielder shared with four others.
