This return match was won by Lincolnshire by 20 runs quarter of an hour after lunch on the second day. The visitors required 160 runs to win in their second innings with over five hours left for play. The match between the two sides at Ely in June had also been won by Lincolnshire. For the winners Nevile top-scored with 26. Riley took five wickets for 60 runs in the Cambridgeshire second innings. For the losers, there were 13 fours in Ling's 77. When the wicket was measured on the second morning, it was found to be 3 feet, 9 inches too long, which led to critical comments in the Cambridgeshire press about the two Cambridgeshire run outs in the first innings.
