This return match was drawn with Staffordshire winning on first innings, the match earlier in the season having failed to produce a result. There was no play after lunch on the first day and the start was delayed until 12.45 pm on the second day with play eventually abandoned at 3.20 pm. Despite the weather over 1000 spectators watched the play on both days. Durham were bowled out on the first morning for 65 with Barnes taking 5-25 and Bucknell 5-14.
