Durham won by 192 runs on the second day. Earlier in the season the match between the two sides at Sunderland had been drawn. For Cheshire the ex-Lancashire and England bowler Walter Brearley took 6 for 40 and 5 for 91 to give him match figures of 11 for 131. In Cheshire's first innings Parkin took 5 for 38 and in their second innings Adamson took 5 for 7. Morris bowled unchanged while taking 6 wickets in the match. On the eve of the match F B Schofield had to go to Scotland on business and was replaced by E G Carr.
