Lincolnshire won this match by 101 runs on the second day. The Lincolnshire declaration left Cheshire 172 runs to win in 90 minutes. In the Cheshire first innings 4 wickets fell at the score of 41 and in the second innings the last 6 wickets fell at the same score of 70. Rain delayed the start on the first day until 2.00 pm. Five runs had been scored when a shower fell, and a restart was made at 3.00 pm. When the score had reached 35-1 wicket, further rain fell and play was abandoned for the day. For the winners, Day took 12 wickets in the match for 71 runs, including 8 for 36 in the Cheshire second innings. He also scored 53.
