Kent 2nd XI won this match by 97 runs on the second day.
In the Kent first innings Freeman took 5 for 57 and somehow was allowed to bowl 11 balls in one over, bowling Meakin with the sixth, and still going on. In the second innings Staffordshire collapsed before the googlies of Freeman, who took 5 for 6, giving him match figures of 10 for 63. For the winners Collins and Le Fleming made a fine stand of 98 in Kent’s second innings, Collins scoring his 70 in 90 minutes with 7 fours and Le Fleming batting 135 minutes for his splendid 85, a six and 12 fours included. For the losers Meakin top scored with 49 in the first innings and only Bourne with 39 made any show at all in their second innings. In the Kent first innings Barnes took 6 for 41 but unusually failed to get a wicket in the second innings. Sedgwick took 5 for 55 in the first innings and 7 for 75 in the second giving him excellent match figures of 11 for 130.
