Twenty years to the day of their last victory, also at Belgrano, the North triumphed by nine wickets. The South African player Johann Nieman won the man of the match award for seven wickets in the match, destroying the South in the first innings by reducing them to 31 for three. From this they never recovered and were all out for 100 exactly. A great innings of 76 with 10 x 4's by David Thorne, well supported by Mike Morris and Alejandro Forrester ensured the North a healthy lead of 176 runs. Facing an upward struggle the South did better in their second innings but looked likely to succumb by an innings until eighth and ninth wicket partnerships added another 100 runs. The North only required 23 to win which was accomplished for the loss on one wicket.
