In ideal weather North who win the toss batted quite well with innings of 72 by Steve Bryans and 46 by Mike Morris being a feature of the score of 230. The South were indebted to Donny Forrester who made a fine century well supported by the captain and Martin Cortabarria and gained a first innings lead of 38 runs. Jonathan drew once more distinguished himself by making 85 and adding 171 for the second wicket with Alex Gooding who made 102. This broke the previous record made in 1939 by Cyril Ayling and D.Ayling of 137. Set 209 to win the South lost Ferguson for 0 and it was uphill all the way. When time was called they had only managed 97 off of 41 overs.
