Bedfordshire won by 167 runs on the second day. For the winners, Rice scored 91 and there were 10 fours in Sutherland's 56. Newspaper reports indicate the wicket began to crumble badly on the second day. For the losers, C H Pigg's 66 contained 10 fours and Watts's 52 included 8 fours. In the Cambridgeshire first innings, C H Pigg and G H Watts added 102 runs for the sixth wicket, and C Pigg and Collier 50 for the last wicket. The train conveying the visitors was late, so play on the first day did not start until 12 noon. The 66 overs bowled by Coulson in the match were the most by a bowler during the season. 1,200 spectators were reported to be present on the first day.
