This match was drawn. Torrential rain ended the play early on the second day after Cambridgeshire failed by two runs to save the follow on, but the Suffolk captain did not enforce it, as he judged too little time remained for Cambridgeshire to be bowled out again. For the home side, there were 4 sixes, 22 fours, and 10 twos in Ling's 181. Collier scored 70 and
B W Pigg 51. In the Cambridgeshire innings, Collier and Ling put on 141 runs for the second wicket and Ling and BW Pigg 103 for the fifth wicket. Tebbutt took 11 wickets in the match for 149 runs including 8 for 120 in the Suffolk first innings. For the visitors, Ireland's 229, scored in 2 hours 50 minutes contained 9 sixes, 26 fours, 5 threes and 9 twos. Bennett scored 84 and Mustard 65. In the Suffolk first innings, Mustard and Ireland put on 153 runs for the third wicket, and Ireland and Bennett added at least 180 runs for the fourth wicket. On the first day 624 runs were scored, which was a new record for the Championship. During the match 1006 runs were scored.
