Cambridgeshire won this return match by 179 runs at 5.35 pm on the second day. The Cambridgeshire declaration set Hertfordshire a victory target of 281 runs in 2¾ hours. The match between the two sides at St Albans in July had been drawn. For the winners, there was 1 six and 13 fours in Tebbutt's 117 not out, an innings of shortly over 2 hours. K G Reid scored 50. In the Cambridgeshire second innings, Tebbutt and Ling put on 146 runs for the sixth wicket. Rose took 9 wickets in the match for 88 runs, including 5 wickets for 48 runs in the Hertfordshire second innings. For the losers, Shelford took 7 wickets for 62 runs in the Cambridgeshire first innings. J O Anderson top-scored with 44. While fielding during the Hertfordshire first innings, Ling hurt himself and left the field with E L Wright taking his place.
