This rain-interrupted match was drawn with Cambridgeshire winning on first innings. A storm on the second day at 10 minutes to twelve, drove the players to the pavilion, and an early lunch was taken. Conditions were too wet to play after the break and a further storm at around 3.00 pm led to the decision to abandon the match ten minutes later. For the home side, Wharmby top scored with 47. For the visitors, Watts scored 75 which included 2 sixes and 4 fours. In the Cambridgeshire innings Watts and Bryan added 63 runs for the eighth wicket. During his innings, Ling hurt his leg when batting and K G Reid went out and acted as his runner. Graham took 5 wickets for 33 runs. For Bedfordshire, Apthorp suffered from a damaged finger so Potter kept wicket. Wharmby returned to the side after breaking a finger, but hurt it again when fielding in the Cambridgeshire innings and had to leave the field. Tebbutt acted as his substitute fielder. This was Baumgartner's final championship match, having played one each in 1901 and 1902. [He was to play one Test for South Africa against England at Durban in 1913-14 scoring 16 and 3, and taking two wickets -- Hobbs and Douglas -- for 99 runs.]
[Missing: Umpires; extras breakdown; in Bedfordshire first innings fall of fourth wicket; in Cambridgeshire innings fall of first wicket.]
