Bedfordshire won this return match by five wickets with half-an-hour to spare shortly before 6.00 pm on the second day. The match between the two sides at Bedford at the end of July had also been won by Bedfordshire. For the winners, Apthorp scored 120 not out in around 90 minutes with 2 sixes and 16 fours. Newspaper reports indicate he gave just one chance. There were 5 fours in Holdstock's 71 and Squire scored 53 not out.
